I was organizing my portfolio folder yesterday and found a lot of old paintings from 2001/2003. At that time I was only working as a designer and freelance colorist, while started learning about 3D.
Despite the fact that I can’t really draw a thing, I used to paint relatively well (so I heard :D), and when I saw this sketch of an Ent by Dilson Monteiro, I thought “man, I need to colorize this”. It took me 2 days to finish the paint and it was quite successful, making top row on CGtalk and being printed in the first edition of Ballistic’s Exposé book (as long as another painting of mine). I still think this piece is pretty decent.
I wonder where did all this painting skills go… I can’t do this anymore. Damn…
Can’t do it anymore!? What a shame, this is really beautiful.
Thanks Andrew ;D Yeah, i have no more skills, painting demands practice you know..
haha yeah but on your gayness you have got a lot of practice eh?
Stop whining and start painting again.
3D is a walk in the park compared with painting and you are a butt kicker on it. regardless of practice or not.
ditto!
Nice work! I agree you should do more 2d to compliment you stellar 3d work as well.
